A Reflection of the Obscene, 2014

Freedom,
We take it for granted.

Just the other day while i was on a journey
The stoplight hit red
And,
Like usual,
I turned my head
Only to observe
The obscure.
I chose to take a glare
Which lasted in a long intense stare
To see and feel
The intensity of a carriage on wheels.
Driven by strong horses,
Tamed,
Struck me,
At that moment,
With shame.

2014,
a reflection of the obscene.

Status
Functioning on the labour of a life breathing apparatus.
There was no freedom to this image.
The history of slavery was still hidden baggage.

My thoughts,
My stare,
Remained,
It took only seconds for wisdom to be gained.
A picture perfect one would assume.
A cinderella story fed with a silver spoon.

It makes one wonder
Whilst feeling the emotion down under.
What is it that we are doing? Today?
‘ What’s Going On ‘ Marvin Gaye would say,
Or should I say sing?
Who only knew what the future would bring,

Just as one thinks we are breaking free from the obstacles of time.
It is not only the horses riding blind.
It is the richness behind
Allowing us to direct our minds.

Freedom rests within our souls
Naturally making us whole.

Redirect your gaze
And figure out who you want to see
Center stage.

The way we breed driving forces,
in this case, horses,
remain oblivious to the mind,
Like being left behind
On a frozen timeline.

We say we are free from enslaved times.
We call the future sublime.
We hold ourselves in an unsocial state
Carry on lies to create our fate.

This goes beyond ego
and human nature gets the stage below.
We choose to carry on this way
Riding upon others,
Sisters or brothers,
When will we learn
The true definition of freedom we yearn.
Define slave behavior.
Acknowledge your neighbor.
Become aware.
Take a moment to stare.
Create a gaze.
Allow yourself to be amazed.
See the truth.
Be an example for our youth.
Think twice when you see Status
Functioning on the labour of a life breathing apparatus.
There is no freedom to this image.
The history of slavery is still the hidden baggage.

A reflection of the obscene,
2014.

See and feel
The intensity of a carriage on wheels.
Driven by strong horses,
Tamed,
Let it strike you,
At any given moment,
With shame.

We take it for granted,
Freedom.
